In 1983 Policies and Laws were passed to gradually increase the retirement age from 65 to 67. Now, I hear there’s a new proposal on the table, to increase the age from 68 to 70!. This policy would reduce Social Security’s long-term funding shortfall. A higher full retirement age (FRA) will function as a benefit cut. Thus, reducing the total lifetime payout. Workers born in 1959 have an FRA of 66 and 10 months. While those born in 1960 or later currently have an FRA of 67. I vehemently oppose raising the Full Retirement Age to anything more than what we currently have standing and would vote accordingly.
Reaching past that imaginary line that was drawn and divided us all with one simple goal, those of us willing and brave enough to dredge through the fog will only mean a better outcome for every American, not just Idahoans. Social Security Expansion Ace to the Social Security Fairness Act
A U.S. Idaho Senator I would be able to assist with Social Security by providing constituent casework—intervening with the Social Security Administration (SSA) to resolve delays, errors, or payment issues
. Legislatively, they can vote on bills reforming or funding the program, such as the Social Security Expansion Ace and the Social Security Fairness Act
As a Senator, I can also sponsor, co-sponsor, or vote on legislation that changes benefits, taxes, or eligibility rules, including addressing the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) or the Government Pension Offset,
and advocate for long-term solvency reforms to the Social Security system to ensure its future viability.
